Woodfit provided interior wooden ceiling and wall linings; the desired acoustic performance was achieved using a combination of flat (non-acoustic) and perforated (acoustic) panels.

Oak wood was chosen to transform the space, which had had little refurbishment work in the 40 years since it’s opening, from a cold, harsh space to a warm, meditative one.

The centrepiece of the fit-out was a contemporary take on the vaulted ceiling, sitting high above the central altar, providing excellent acoustic performance and flooding the space with natural light. The clean, minimalist lines of this stunning feature conceal the complex structure engineered by Woodfit to achieve the effect.

The refurbishment won multiple awards including the Interior Architectural Project of the Year at the Irish Design and Build Awards, 2016.
